‏قال ابن القيم -رحمه الله-:

‏-

‏وَكن فِي الْجَانِب الَّذِي يكون فِيهِ الله وَرَسُوله

‏وإن كَانَ النَّاس كلهم فِي الْجَانِب الآخر .

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمة الله عليه said:

Be on the side that supports Allah and his Rasool صلى الله عليه و سلم, even if all the people areon the other side.

قال ابن الجوزي:

الدنيا وضعت للبلاء فينبغي للعاقل أن يوطن نفسه على الصبر،

صيد الخاطر

Ibn al-Jawzi رحمة الله عليه said:

This worldly life has been placed as a tribulation (to separate the good from bad). So it’s necessary for the intelligent one to adjust himself to patience.

قال ابن القيم -رحمه الله-: “لو نفع العلم بلا عمل لما ذم الله -سبحانه- أحبار أهل الكتاب، ولو نفع العمل بلا إخلاص لما ذم المنافقين”.

فوائد الفوائد

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمة الله عليه said:

If knowledge without action was beneficial, then Allah would not have dispraised the scholars of the Jews and Christians. And if actions without sincerity was beneficial, then Allah would not have criticised the hypocrites.

سلمان الفارسي – رضي الله عنه – : الوضوء يكفر الجراحات الصغار ، والمشي إلى المسجد يكفر أكثر ، والصلاة تكفر أكثر من ذلك .

فتح الباري لابن رجب

Salman al-Farsi رضي الله عنه said:

Ablution expiates minor sins and walking to the masjid expiates more. And the prayer expiates more than that (both ablution and walking to the masjid).

عن ابن عباس قال : يكره أن يقوم الرجل إلى الصلاة وهو كسلان ، ولكن يقوم إليها طلق الوجه ، عظيم الرغبة ، شديد الفرح ، فإنه يناجي الله [ تعالى ] وإن الله أمامه يغفر له ويجيبه إذا دعاه ، ثم يتلو ابن عباس هذه الآية : ( وإذا قاموا إلى الصلاة قاموا كسالى ) وروي من غير هذا الوجه ، عن ابن عباس ، نحوه

تفسير ابن الكثير

Abdullah Ibn Abbaas رضي الله عنه said:

‘It is detested that a man stands to pray lazily. Rather, he should stand for it; cheerfully, with a great desire and intense happiness. As he is privately confiding in Allah and He (the Mighty and Majestic) is in front of Him, forgiving him and answering him when he supplicates.’

Then he recited this verse, ‘And when they [i.e., the hypocrites] stand to pray they do so lazily.’’” [4:142]

Tafseer Ibn Katheer

‏‎‏قال صلى الله عليه وسلم : ( مَنْ نَزَلَتْ بِهِ فَاقَةٌ فَأَنْزَلَهَا بِالنَّاسِ لَمْ تُسَدَّ فَاقَتُهُ ، وَمَنْ نَزَلَتْ بِهِ فَاقَةٌ فَأَنْزَلَهَا بِاللَّهِ فَيُوشِكُ اللَّهُ لَهُ بِرِزْقٍ عَاجِلٍ أَوْ آجِلٍ )

‎رواه الترمذي (2326) وأبو داود (1645) وصححه الألباني في صحيح الترمذي .

قال صاحب الكتاب عون المعبود:

“لم تسد فاقته” أي: لم تقض حاجته و لم تزل فاقته، و كلما تسد حاجة أصابته أخرى أشد منها

The Prophet (صلى الله عليه و سلم) said: “Whoever is struck by poverty and he goes around telling people about it (and complaining about it in the hope of receiving help), then his calamity will not be relieved. And whoever is struck by poverty and he complains to Allaah about it, Allaah will grant him relief sooner or later.”

Narrated by al-Tirmidhi and Abu Dawood

In the explanation of the words: “then his calamity will not be relieved”

One scholar wrote:

“His need will not be fulfilled and his poverty will remain. And anytime one problem is solved, he will be afflicted with one that is worse.”
