Uthman رضي الله عنه said in his final sermon:

Allah gave you this worldly life to seek by it the hear-after and He did not give it to you so that you incline towards it (i.e. chase after lowly things). Verily this worldly life will perish and the hear-after will remain. Do not become haughty over that which is finite and allow it to distract you from that which is ever lasting.

So give preference to that which is eternal over that which is ephemeral. And indeed this worldly life will come to an end. And to Allah will be the return.

“My own family’s heritage is Muslim. Myself and my four brothers were brought up to believe in God, but I do not practise any religion. My wife is a practising Christian and the only religion practised in my house is Christianity.

I think we should recognise that Christianity is the religion of our country.”

It is truly amazing..

The poet said:

From what is truly amazing

Is being close to your lover but having no way to reach them

Like the camel in the desert who dies of thirst

While carrying water on his back.
