قال علي –رضي الله عنه- ما ألهم الله عبدا الاستغفار وهو يريد أن يعذبه

إحياء العلوم الدين

Ali رضي الله عنه said:

Allah does not inspire His slave to seek His forgives while desiring to punish him.

وَمَا كَانَ اللَّهُ مُعَذِّبَهُمْ وَهُمْ يَسْتَغْفِرُونَ

الأنفال: ٣٣

and Allah would not punish them while they seek forgiveness
