عن أبي معشر قال: رأيت عون بن عبد الله في مجلس ألي حازم يبكي و يمسح وجهه بالدموع و يقول: بلغني أن النار لا تمس موضع الدموع.

Abu Ma’shar رحمة الله عليه said: ‘I saw Awn bin Abdullah رحمة الله عليه in the gathering of Abu Hazim رحمة الله عليه crying and wiping his face with the tears, while saying’: “It has reached me that the fire (of hell) will not touch the places where the tears have touched.”

‏قال الإمام ابن القيم -رحمه الله-:

‏والعبد إن غير المعصية بالطاعة

‏غير الله عليه العقوبة بالعافية

‏والذل بالعز..

‏[ الداء والدواء (٧٤/١) ]

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمة الله عليه said:

If the slave changes sin to obedience, then Allah changes the punishment to well-being and protection and from disgrace to ennoblement.

‏قال أبو الدرداء:

‏-

‏إِنَّ أَخْوَفَ مَا أَخَافُ إِذَا وَقَفْتُ عَلَى الْحِسَابِ أَنْ يُقَالَ لِي: قَدْ عَلِمْتَ، فَمَاذَا عَمِلْتَ فِيمَا عَلِمْتَ ؟

Abu Darda’ رضي الله عنه said:

The thing that terrifies me the most; is when I will be stopped to be taken account (on judgement day) and it will be said to me:

Indeed you did learn, but what did you do with that which you learned?

From Abu Qilabah: Abu al-Dardā’ passed by a man who had sinned and people were cursing him.

He said: What if you found him stuck down a well? Wouldn’t you try to pull him out?

They replied: Of course.

He said: Then don’t curse your brother; instead thank God who protected you from sin.

They asked: Well shouldn’t we hate him?

He replied: I only hate his action, when he leaves it then he’s my brother.

عن أبي قلابة، أن أبا الدرداء مر على رجل قد أصاب ذنبا وكانوا يسبونه.

فقال: أرأيتم لو وجدتموه في قليب، ألم تكونوا تستخرجونه؟

قالوا: بلى.

قال: “فلا تسبوا أخاكم، واحمدوا الله الذي عافاكم.

قالوا: أفلا نبغضه؟

قال: إنما أبغض عمله، فإذا ترك فهو أخي.

~ رواه عبد الرزاق في مصنفه والبيهقي في شعب الإيمان.

‏{فَإِنْ تَوَلَّوْا فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلِيمٌ بِالْمُفْسِدِين}.

‏قال الحافظ ابن كثير رحمه الله: “مَنْ عَدَل عن الحق إلى الباطل فهو المُفسد”.

‏تفسير القرآن العظيم ٢/٥٥

‎Allah ﷻ said what means:

‎{So if they turn away, then indeed Allah is All-Knowing about the mufsideen (those who corrupt)}

‎Al-Haafith Ibn Katheer رحمه الله:

‎🔸

‎Whoever turns away from the Truth towards falsehood is a mufsid(one who corrupts).

‎🔸

إن مشيت على شارع-محمود درويش

إن مشيت على شارع لا يؤدي إلي هاوية ؛ قل لمن يجمعون

القمامة شكراً

If you walked on a street that does not lead you to an abyss. Say to those who gather the rubbish, thank you.

إن رجعت إلى البيت حيّاً كما ترجع القافية بلا خلل قل لنفسك شكراً

If you returned home alive just as a prosody flows without any disruption, say to yourself, thank you.

إن توقعت شيئاً وخانك حدسك فاذهب غداً لترى أين كنت وقل للفراشة شكراً

If you were expecting something and your gut feelings betrayed you. Go into tomorrow and see where you once were, and say to the butterflies in your stomach, thank you.

إن صرخت بكل قواك ورد عليك الصدى من هناك ؟ فقل للهويّة شكراً

If you screamed with all your force and your echo replied, who is there? Say to identity, thank you.

إن نظرت إلى وردة دون أن توجعك وفرحت بها قل لقلبك شكراً

If you looked onto a rose without it harming you and were pleased by it. Say to your heart, thank you.

إن نهضت صباحاً ولم تجد الآخرين معك يفركون جفونك قل للبصيرة شكراً

If you arose in the morning and did not find anyone beside you as you rub your eyes, say to your eyesight, thank you.

إن تذكرت حرفاً من اسمك واسم بلادك كن ولداً طيباً

If you remembered a letter of your name or your country, then be a polite child.

ليقول لك الرب شكراً

So that your Lord can say to you, thank you.

Shaykh al-Islam ibn Taymiyyah in al-Majmu’ said:

وكثير من الناس إذا علم من الرجل ما يحبه؛ أحب الرجل مطلقًا، وأعرض عن سيئاته، وإذا علم منه ما يبغضه؛ أبغضه مطلقا، وأعرض عن حسناته، وهذا من أقوال أهل البدع والخوارج والمعتزلة والمرجئة…

“There are many people whom if they knew something about a person which they liked, they would like him unconditionally and ignore his sins. Similarly, if they knew something about him which they hated, they would hate him unconditionally and ignore his good deeds. This is from the opinions of the people of innovation and Khawaarij and Mu’tazilites and Murji’ah…”

قال سلام بن أبي مطيع: كن لنعمة الله عليك في دينك أشكر منك لنعمة الله عليك في دنياك . [حلية الأولياء]

Salaam bin abi muti’ said:

You should be more thankful (to Allah) with His blessing upon you in your deen than His blessing upon you in your dunya.

‏قال الماوردي في أدب الدنيا والدين صحيفة ٢٦١ :

“والكذب جماع كل شر ، وأصل كل ذم؛ لسوء عواقبه وخبث نتائجه؛ لأنه ينتج النميمة، والنميمة تنتج البغضاء، والبغضاء تؤول إلى العداوة، وليس مع العداوة أمن ولا راحة ، ولذلك قيل: من قل صدقه قل صديقه”

Lying is the amass of all evil and the foundation of all things blameworthy, and it brings evil consequences and wicked results.

(Lying) produces gossip, and gossip produces hatred, and hatred leads to animosity and with animosity there is no sense of peace or relaxation.

For this reason it is said:

Whoever speaks little truth has very few friends.
